Willow pattern Christmas tree - made from sherds of ubiquitous 19th century pottery sherds, found by me on the Thames Foreshore over the years while #mudlarking and still available today. Extremely popular in tea rooms, it seems 🎄

380m were consumed. This means that between 1300-1500, 630m pots were made, used, + broken. If each broke into 30 pieces, then around 20 billion sherds of pottery were created in that time. (I've looked at about 4m sherds in the last 40 years so there's still plenty left to go round) 3/end
