#Febchantment Day 10:

Magic in #shuunkuu, being invocative by nature, often require either somatic components (usually channeling through their hands or a focus), verbal components (chant, prayer, incantation, etc.), or sometimes a combination of both.
#Febchantment Day 10

How is magic actually performed? What kinds of speech or actions are needed to execute a successful spell? An ancient incantation? A hand sign? Martial arts movements?

Or is it enough simply for the caster to THINK their spell into existence?

#Febchantment Day 1:

In #shuunkuu, there is magic (which further splits into divine and arcane) and psionics. Although they can be seen as similar systems, they do have some key distinctions.
Welcome to #Febchantment!

This month we're talking magic systems! Whether you're building a new one or yapping about an old one, welcome!

Introduce yourself & your world, including the magic. Keep it brief so you still have plenty to talk about the rest of the month!

#DecemberWorldbuilders Day 13:

Most surnames mark affiliation with one's family in a general sense in #shuunkuu. There is one exception, however...
Heya, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Does your world have any relevant family symbology? For example, crests, heraldry, flags, etc.? Or are surnames important to them? Do they take their surname from their father or do they have a different method? Do they believe in leaving a lasting legacy?

#Febchantment Day 2:

Both magic and psionics in #shuunkuu aren't exactly soft or hard systems; they have rules, but most of those are highly conditional and flexible in the right circumstances. Also, the upper limits are only brought up when they pertain to the narrative.

#worldbuilding
#Febchantment Day 2

Do you have a "hard" or "soft" magic system?

In other words, does your magic system have strictly defined rules (think: Brandon Sanderson's books)? Or is it more undefined, mostly vibes/rule of cool (think: Gandalf from LOTR)? Somewhere in between?

#Febchantment Day 3:

Aside from being fundamentally invocative, magic in #shuunkuu tends to have various sects each with their own practices and rituals. Psionics on the other hand is very much rooted in the concept of willpower since it lacks much variance in its applications...
#Febchantment Day 3

What is the central concept of your magic system? E.g. Elemental magic? Music magic? Name-based magic? Something else? (Note: this isn't the "source" of magic - that's Day 8!)

If you already answered this previously, feel free to go into more detail!

#Febchantment Day 5:

Magic in #shuunkuu is fairly easy to learn, although there are those with more aptitude and its inherently invocative nature does make certain kinds of magic situational.

Psionics on the other hand can only be properly executed by those with innate aptitude...
#Febchantment Day 5

Tell us about who can wield magic in your world!

Is it available to everyone, or only a special few? Is it a gift you're born with, or a skill you can learn? Is the knowledge gatekept in some way?

Don't forget to read & interact with others! 😁

...and reintegrate these individuals back into imperial society, some of which were personally endorsed by Sever directly.

#Febchantment Day 11:

Magic in #shuunkuu is often limited to how much power one can negotiate from the world around them. Overstepping or failure to respect the source of their power can, at best, cause an incantation or prayer to go unanswered, and at worse, backfire on the caster themselves.
#Febchantment Day 11

What limitations did you put on your magic system to keep it from becoming too OP? Is power in short supply? Do spells take a physical toll on the body?

Note that this is about magic done RIGHT. Day 13 will be about when magic goes horribly wrong!

#DecemberWorldbuilders Day 3:
Alchemy has been considered a prominent magical science in #shuunkuu for a considerable amount of its history, as most recipes require magical energy or materials to properly catalyze.
Yap at me, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Does your world have any chemists or alchemists? Are they living at the time of your characters' journey or are they ancient history? What did they discover? What *is* chemistry or alchemy in your setting?
December 3, 2025 at 2:49 PM
#Febchantment Day 27:

Due to the duality of magic and psionics existing in #shuunkuu, there has been a lot of technology originally developed for magic users, whether domestically or discovered during the Reality War, that has been adapted for psionic resonance.
#Febchantment Day 27

Today is your day just to gush about what excites you about your own magic system!

In your opinion, what makes your system particularly unique or interesting? If you don't feel it's super unique, then just talk about any aspect of it you find cool!

#Lexember Day 7 (r/Conlang version): Aggregates

Shoy [ʂɔj] (“sand”) and Rósh [roʂ] (“gravel”) are the most common aggregates one might find in #shuunkuu. While the former is often harvested from the coastlines...

#Marchistics Day 2:

While there are many kinds of materials (and materiel) that are traded between the three nations of #shuunkuu, the most important one is their currency. Despite using separate currencies in the past, Ustar and Eisui standardized them under imperial rule...
These next three days of #Marchistics will give you the time to establish the basic "chain" most of the month's questions will be based on.

Final product should be easy: think like a sword, a cake, a vessel. What specific thing in your world is important for you to work on in-depth like this?

#FebruaryWorldbuilders Day 14:

The Reality War distorted the leylines in #shuunkuu ever so slightly, causing it to experience a degree of time dilation compared to most other worlds. While travel beyond the stars and to other worlds often account for this...
#FebruaryWorldbuilders, let's talk about time shenanigans. Are there places or situations in your fictional world where time works differently? Do you have time loops, time dilation (sped up or slowed down), or time travel? Does your world branch into different timelines?
February 14, 2026 at 5:23 AM
#Febchantment Day 9:

Magic in #shuunkuu is often channeled through various focii depending on the specifics of a given ritual or practice. Often, this is the usual kinds, such as wands or staves for the arcane sects and holy symbols such as rosaries for more divine-oriented sects.
#Febchantment Day 9

Let's talk magical tools! What does someone need to do magic in your system? An arcane focus (e.g. wand, staff, orb)? A book of spells? A musical instrument? A bunch of obscure ingredients?

If you have magical companions, they would count here 😁

#FebruaryWorldbuilders Day 2:

Funny enough, despite many of the characters in my narrative coming from #shuunkuu, there is also much of the overall narrative that takes place outside of it. So it would probably depend on what point of the timeline you are looking at in the moment.

#worldbuilding
#FebruaryWorldbuilders. What is the scope or size of your world, or the 'space' of the story you're writing? Does it take place on a planet? Across a galaxy? Perhaps you're only writing about one small country or even a city. Or perhaps you have many planets/worlds?
February 2, 2026 at 6:08 PM
#Marchistics Day 12:

Considering that this industry in particular is government-managed-and-regulated, most common folk in Shuunkuu cannot simply obtain these materials without going through proper channels and justifying their partition from the standard flow of the supply chain.
Is your intermediate good available for purchase by regular folks, #Marchistics?

Are there hobbyists or contractors that buy it up for their own personal needs or businesses, or is it a direct pipeline to the final product producer?

If regular folks are buying it, what use does it see there?

#FebruaryWorldbuilders Day 15:

Generally, the laws of #shuunkuu differ depending on the region. For the Golden Star Empire, there is generally a group of magistrates serving under Aurelius who would help to draft the laws within imperial lands. However, following Sever's ascension to Sentinel...
Hey, #FebruaryWorldbuilders! This week is about laws and the legal/court system in your fictional worlds. Today's Q: Who makes the laws? Does your world have a king? A council? An all-powerful God rules directly or through somebody else? Is it total anarchy? Just a village elder?

#Lexember day 4: Something that adds flavor
As I alluded to yesterday, the meat dishes not just in the Empire, but all around #shuunkuu, are not without good seasoning.
December 4, 2025 at 6:19 AM
#DecemberWorldbuilders Day 17:

There are craftsmen (and women) of all sorts in #shuunkuu, including tailors and blacksmiths. However, while most see these skills as essential for the most part, Sever never had need for such skills as he can mimic most forms of clothing/armor with his umbrakinesis.
Greetings, #DecemberWorldbuilders. This week we're talking about the routine chores our characters do. In your setting, who makes or repairs clothes/armor? Do you have tailors or blacksmiths? Have any of your main characters had to learn any of these skills?
December 17, 2025 at 8:11 AM
#Lexember Day 6 (r/Conlang version): Ceramics
Ceramics and earthenware are less common in #shuunkuu these days compared to metalwear. However, they still have their place in the craft of pottery.

#DecemberWorldbuilders Day 2:

In #shuunkuu, it is said that many of the mortal races were born from the bowels of Primordia at the behest of the first Sentinel of Life, So'vest. From there, they spread across the land and sea, developing into many of the races known today with one key exception...
Hello, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Tell us about the creation of your people according to the in-world lore. Were they created by gods? Did they evolve from single-celled organisms? Maybe a bit of both? Maybe they don't know, and maybe they have stories about it. What are their creation myths?

#FebruaryWorldbuilders Day 10:

I think I have established that Psionics are somewhat prevalent in #shuunkuu, albeit not as diverse and accessible as magic tends to be for reasons I have somewhat outlined in other posts. Nonetheless, this has influenced not only their technology...
#FebruaryWorldbuilders, good morning! Are prophecies or psychic abilities real in your world? How do they affect the world? Tomorrow I will ask about free will, so if you have prophecies, think about how that influences whether free will exists or not, and have an answer tomorrow😁
February 10, 2026 at 5:40 AM
#Febchantment Day 8:

Magical techniques in #shuunkuu tend to derive from various traditions made to appeal to the world for assistance and power, and is largely tied to the flow of Life and Death. Psionics on the other hand is seen as some form of resonance with Willpower...
#Febchantment Day 8

This week we're digging more into the nuts & bolts of your magic system! So let's start with the source.

Where exactly does magic "come from" in your world? Where/when does it originate? Does anyone know for sure, or are there only theories?
