The collapse of GOP control in state legislatures and downballot statewide races (SoS, AG, etc.) will be very significant for 2028 elections.
I know everybody is understandably focused on the US Senate, but it looks to me like more than 75% of Americans will reside in states with Democratic governors, which seems like a very very big deal too.

ICE agents didn't show up at the polls yesterday. DOJ didn't try to seize ballot boxes. Election deniers haven't (yet) tried to overturn the vote. A boring electoral process is a huge victory for democracy.
