One reason why my favorite Mars colony sci-fi book is "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch" is that PKD realizes that living on Mars would like living in the dreariest imaginable suburb, where the main form of entertainment is taking drugs that offer out-of-body experiences of being back on Earth.
I also don't think it's a total coincidence that the apex promoter of the Mars colonization grew up in apartheid South Africa: Mars colonization fantasies always include the idea of escape from the terrestrial political reality of having to share space with one's lessers.

one of the reasons I decided not to have kids is it's so easy to have one careless slipup then your kid is just gone. Or I mean sometimes it doesn't even require a slipup, but that level of pressure and responsibility is just too much for me psychologically. Those poor people deserve empathy

I hadn't heard about this slipup before, but looking through the material, I agree 100%: the issue in question is a *really* easy mistake even for an experienced translator to make because of the mechanics of Japanese as a language. I've corrected this issue *a lot* on projects I've proofed/edited.
This month, I looked at one of the most infamous mistranslations in Zelda history. In comparing the English translation with the original Japanese script, I hoped to uncover what may have led to this unfortunate error and how it might have been avoided.
