A number of years ago I wrote a retrospective blog post about our former game development adventures. When I stopped blogging, I saved the blog post as a PDF and uploaded it to my Internet Archive.

Our small dev team was initially named Soft Eyes / SoftEyes. An Amiga shooter titled Venom Wing was our first internationally distributed game, published by the British Thalamus in 1990. I made part of the graphics. The coder, Pieter ("Peter") Opdam moved to the UK to work for Team 17 (Worms, …).

Oof, good question. 😅 I don't think we had a logo in our Soft Eyes years. We just included "SoftEyes" or "Soft Eyes" in the different fonts we made for each game.

@seven.eurosky.social Hello Metin, I update IGDB as a side-hobby and I was wondering if you could give us a few details about the formation of SoftEyes. I have not been able to find much data about it online.

Ragnova is name of the antagonist. A danger due to his high intelligence factor. I had no idea that SoftEyes and Hoi were related, this is great info!

Ragnov
Ragnov is one of those early Amiga curiosities that gives a fascinating glimpse into the early days of a development team that would go on to produce other well known titles. Created by Softeyes, a Dutch team formed around 1987, Ragnov was their very first game project and an ambitious one at that.

When we started making games in the late 1980s, our name was SoftEyes. Ragnov was our first game project. Like Moon Child on the Amiga, the project didn't make it beyond a demo, and my graphics were not in the demo yet. But @ramonbraumuller.eurosky.social's tune was later remixed for Hoi level 3.
A look at Ragnov, an unreleased Amiga title from Softeyes that never made it past demo stage, but went on to inspire parts of Hoi and beyond. A fascinating early project by the creators of Moon Child:

What if the problem isn’t how the child is acting—
…but how we’ve been taught to see?
Soft eyes don’t ignore the behavior.
They see through it.
Into it.
Toward the need.
Toward the child.
Toward the human.
This week, we begin again.
