These two pinhole solargraphs were not taken nearby nor intended as a panorama but the sun paths fit together so perfectly that I had to. #solargraphy #largeformat #photography

The first four weeks of digital solargraphs are in the bank! Over 45,000 individual shots across two cameras, 380GB of RAW files condensed into a few seconds of video 😅

Two water damaged pinhole solargraphs, 32 days near MassArt and 38 days in JP, the latter lost the entire composition to the damage, but I love it as a fully abstract collaboration with nature. #pinhole #altprocess #solargraphy

De jolis solargraphs obtenus par un collègue et ses élèves après avoir laissé le dispositif sur le toit du lycée. Un article pour le @cleaastro.bsky.social à venir? C’est ce que le lui ai suggéré. @astrolabe-science.fr

Solargraphy captures the sun’s path across the sky using exposures that last, months. A simple pinhole camera + photo paper = visible time. Read Heather Palecek's method:

Happy Summer solstice! 4 Solargraphs I set around Kutchan in Hokkaido, Japan at the Winter solstice and just retrieved this evening. Pretty happy with how these turned out. You can see Mount Yotei in a couple of them. 🔭 ☀️ 🌞

Two paper negative solargraphs, the first a 27 day pinhole exposure and the second only 3.5hrs through a simple glass lens, both in otherwise identical altoids tin style box cameras.

Pinhole solargraphs collected today, 1st an 85 day exposure along the Charles River, 2nd a 29 day exposure placed hastily when the Citgo sign in Kenmore Sq began to be dismantled for its eventual move up and over. It's ghostly outline can be seen in center frame. cc @universalhub.com

Solargraphs - year long pinhole camera exposures showing the track of the Sun through the southern* sky - are cool. About to see if I can actually develop and fix them; normally you can only scan the latent image with a scanner. Wish me luck!

The first few trails are very close together and overlap a lot, but more progress will be visible as the sun speeds up towards the equinox.

I don't have a page for the composited solargraph yet, but you can browse and watch individual day's solargraphs here: eagereyes.org/app/daily-so...

Yay solargraphs ftw. Ik heb nog een stapel van dit fotopapier liggen, misschien wel lachen om weer een keer te gaan doen. Als jullie niet verder vertellen dat het een paar dagen na de zonnewende is opgehangen, doe ik het ook niet :)

Heather Palecek's Her solargraphs are taken with simple pinhole box cameras, often made with Altoids tins. She mounts them in trees and returns to them weeks or even months later to see what her collaboration with nature has produced.

Something fun you can do with digital solargraphs that you can't with paper, is look at each daily streak separately and admire the patterns. Here are four from the last few days in Seattle, the first on the solstice (6/21), and then 6/26-28.
