One of my favorite soliloquies comes to mind every time there's a rapture rumor. It's from Aucassin and Nicolette and it goes, in part:
Apparently the rapture is happening on Wednesday and now I'm like should I even bother folding my laundry if I'm going to be fighting to avoid eternal damnation on Thursday?
