Caught this scruffy-looking bird at the wonderful Chignecto National Wildlife Area near Amherst, Nova Scotia and didn’t realize until later it was actually a Blue Jay mid-molt. Still a beauty.

I cut off the beak a little in this portrait, so I played around with the image details. Amazing how birds, even if they are one of 30, are super attentive when I "aim" at them with the lens, they sense it. Maybe I need a longer focal length 😂
