#spermageddon
Will they talk about the biological fact of plunging sperm counts.
And the ever increasing fertility problems of men and women.
Doesn't look like it. Societal issues aren't the whole story.

Finally, some good news! 🥳

‘Spermageddon’, housing, a romance famine…

“The wave of childlessness that is sweeping the 🌎 is extraordinary,” she writes. In 🇮🇪, the fertility rate is 1.5 children per woman, while 2025 UK figure of 1.39 is the lowest on record.'

While I do dunk on USAmerican animation a lot, it should be noted that this is what Norway is getting up to on the animation front, so I'm not speaking from a position of like, presumed national superiority or anything.

For Farage

We might be "quite close to a moment where countries will start desperately competing for immigrants. It’s perfectly possible that we will flip, precisely because our welfare systems can’t sustain this population pyramid.”

State population control is creepy and a violation of rights, but we should be happy this is happening by choice. But unhappy about the reasons: loneliness, neoliberal austerity, insecurity. Can we improve people’s lives without all the roads, pointless work, and excess consumption?

“In the hands of strongmen and billionaires, the conversation combines elements of misogyny – authoritarian men getting in women’s business via reproduction – with a newer strain of wealth-supremacy, the right kind of babies to be born to the right kind of people” www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

“…geographer Danny Dorling’s book (out next year) takes it global: ‘The last year that people worldwide felt optimistic enough to have more children than the year before was 1989.’ “

Something, likely many things, broke down globally a couple generations back.

This is entirely a good thing. The decision not to have children is important for both personal satisfaction and societal good. Overpopulation is here, and has been for a couple of decades. Malthus was right. He was just early.

The irrational alarmism around spermageddon is absurd. The article says we havent seen declines like this since the Black Death. Nope. During the Black Death 30-50% of Europes population was wiped out. No such thing is happening when the overall pop is growing or decling by natural means. Absurd
