Great Sunday morning! A new JSA IN THE 90s podcast. The two Brave and the Bolds featuring Black Canary and Starman are two of my faves. And I really liked the 1999 All-American Comics which has one of the best portrayals of the often ridiculed Johnny Thunder. Here teamed up with Green Lantern.

The Young Justice episode "Targets" debuted on this day (Sept. 16) in 2011. A fantastic episode from the first season, some of The Team heads off to school while Aqualad and Red Arrow try to stop an assassination by Cheshire, Sportsmaster, and the League of Shadows! #YoungJustice

Sweet, got this one as a hand-me-down. Need to revisit it, thought "The Sportsmaster" was cool lol.

a) One of the things I've always liked about YJ is that they made Sportsmaster an actual *threat* despite his goofy ass name and gimmick

b) You have chosen... wisely.

I hope his porn name is Water Sportsmaster

I have Young Justice on as background noise while I knit and Sportsmaster remains the funniest villain name

Young Justice showed me how cool Sportsmaster is, but Stargirl was what really made me realise how fun he can be too. Hopefully Lego Sportsmaster can split the difference!

I kind of envisioned a Legion that is equal and opposite to my League, the only trouble really is that I've got less-than-stellar approximations of characters like Master Jailer while actual official figures of Zoom and Grodd go unused. Cheers though, I did work hard on Sportsmaster!

As we discussed earlier, Bollix reads especially close to Sportsmaster, another weaponized-athletics rogue from DC’s Golden Age. Together, he and Rustler feel decidedly old-school: colorful gimmick villains whose big crime is simply robbing a bank.

My immediate reaction is "both is good", but if you're set on an equal amount of leaguers and villains, I really do dig that Sportsmaster minifigure a *lot*. Weirdly, in spite of how much more "important" Star Sapphire is to GL lore, I think I'd go with him.

sportsmaster is so underrated, i love how young justice made him, like, the coolest guy ever, so imo he should get the legion of doom spot.

Sportsmaster (Lawrence "Crusher" Crock) made his first costumed appearance in Green Lantern #28 “The Tricks of the Sportsmaster”. On newsstands August 29, 1947. Cover date Oct/Nov 1947.

My Justice League has two Green Lanterns, so my Legion of Doom needs two Green Lantern villains. Sportsmaster or Star Sapphire?

I'm personally leaning toward Sportsmaster. Seems like it lends itself to a fun setpiece, but I also reckon Star Sapphire looks a bit neater

It's a really solid first season, I'm on Episode 21 right now and other than one meh episode I've really been enjoying it. It also has one of the better depictions of Batman in media.

Really also enjoy how Sportsmaster and some of the other B-roll villains wind up becoming interesting characters.

dangerously close to making a tiktok about this: the obvious choice for Alan Ritchson in this version of the DCU is Sportsmaster
