#sprytile
With wonderful help from the N64 homebrew discord and .zoncabe for the code, I can show off progress for the N64 version of #QuestOfRaziya! Now with dialogue finally!

Going forward, Pyrite 64 will be my main engine #indiedev #gamedev #retrodev #sprytile #blender3D #N64 #JRPG #anime #Pyrite64

Trenchbroom is the best one I've found so far. Optimized for Lowpoly/Blockouts, but it is pretty quick to prototype.

Tried Blender, Sprytile, Hammer, Unreal Primitives.. Trenchbroom won for me.

If only it was quick to import into Unreal... even with HammUEr iteration is a pain.

Love the 2.5D look. I've toyed with that idea with Sprytile and even wrote my own software for that look (But Sprytile is better), but I can never seem to make it look really good. Maybe if I spent more time adding details.

If you use blender you could perhaps look at sprytile which I think is cheaper or possibly name your own price.

You can peek around at the model yourself on Sketchfab, I added some annotations to the details

Metro Manila's Lost Summer - 3D model by ZeroByte
A little slice of Metro Manila’s lost summer, in a low poly pixel style. Built in Blender 2.83 with the help of my Sprytile tile mapping tool, using the public domain Azul texture as a base. T...

Imagine what you want, pixel art some textures for it, install Blender, install SpryTile by @jeielvtx.bsky.social here: jeiel.itch.io/sprytile, then take a few hours to get acquainted making simple stuff, drop it all in your engine of choice and you're off to the races doing 3D pixel-art work.

Made a beach house with sprytile. Dimensions are a little off, but I'll get better the more I practice

Got Aseprite for Christmas and made a little island with sprytile.

Maybe this is something you already know about, but would Sprytile maybe help bridge the gap? Popping my head in from a feed, so I do apologise if I'm missing context ha

Installed old Blender 2.79b and old version of Sprytile to test out the pixel art lowpoly workflow.

This was actually way better than I remembered.
Everything came also out of the muscle memory!

btw is Sprytile good? i'm currently muddling through with crocotile & enjoying it but. also looking for a good low-res 3D tiley workflow
November 12, 2024 at 9:33 PM
hey this is gorgeous, do you still use sprytile?
November 12, 2024 at 9:31 PM
Are either of those tools capable of doing Sprytile style textures? As in, painting a texture quad by quad and having it automatically distort to the shape of the quad?

My other options were:
1. After Effects: Animate tilemap layers in Aseprite, and export the resulting animation as an image sequence to use in AE. Animate gameplay manually.
2. Blender: Build tilemaps with Sprytile and do some funky UV-driven animation for every element. Animate gameplay manually.

You should check out this plugin for Blender, it allows you to use your pixel textures on 3D models!

Honestly suprised how cute this looks considering that this wasn't made for 3d. I wish resprytile was more stable. With pribambase and main sprytile dead, options are limited. And doing this by hand is a bit pain in the ass.

Thank you! 😊

Asesprite for the sprites and textures, Blender and an updated version of Sprytile for the models, Unity for the engine using Adventure Creator. I don't believe I've seen any other AC games using this type of game style but I've got it all working so far.
