The SRCCON lanyard is this type and I am very excited to use it on another winter jacket.
I just figured out how to use a leftover lanyard from a conference as backpack straps on a puffy winter coat when I'm overheated while traveling or shopping indoors.

I'm about to attend my first SRCCON in Minneapolis, in large part because a very encouraging person from OpenNews introduced themselves at NICAR and strongly encouraged me to submit a presentation idea. They also told me they had followed me on social media since 2018.

I am working with @iniwil.bsky.social on something (that I can announce soon!) and one of the first things we did was figure out how our views on AI aligned. My co-facilitator for SRCCON next week, @katetravis.bsky.social, and I also didn't use AI at all to write our presentation and slides.
A really unpleasant professional anxiety that I’ve just realized I have is that I don‘t know how to think about collaborations now that I’m so mismatched with peers on acceptable AI use. I expected this problem with students but I’m shocked at how everyone in their 40s/50s is just casually using it

SRCCON is the best journalism conference there is, and I don't just say that because I founded it. It's become better and better even after I left. You, journalism (or j-adjacent) person, should submit a session proposal.
