#stackobot
Slight detour from the usual, but I'm participating in the Stack O Bot game jam hosted by EPIC, and I think I'm just using it as an excuse to make my own crash bandicoot game...

Nearly finished with the game for this jam. Making the main menu gave me a big smile :)

Just finished my entry for EPIC's game jam! The game is called STACK BASH, a Crash Bandicoot inspired platformer!

Give it a try here: afrosthound.itch.io/stack-bash

The one tinny annoyance I found in the StackOBot project is that grating model as z-fighting. It's super easy to fix though using UE Modelling Tools. Below showing how.

I just rediscovered StackOBot. It's really great project to learn from. Very easy to get into with very good learning material. Highly recommend checking it out. It has a lot of hidden gems like reactive foliage or generic interaction system and dynamic room generator.

Bit late, but for today's #ScreenshotSaturday wanted to show off my entry for the Mega Stack-O-Jam by
@unrealengine.bsky.social. The goal was, make a game level, starting off from the new #StackOBot template.

I'd love to know what you all think: gmilh.itch.io/stack-o-jam-...

This is incredible Stackobot work!

That's just simple mesh from StackOBot project (but with a bit different material setup, much simpler and green). Scattered with as landscape grass. Really, nothing fancy

I didn't look into it yet myself, but foliage in StackOBot example project also has something similar

Ohh right that's where I woulda seen it because I did the longer stackobot tutorial - that one was really good for showing polish, just not UI polish

I don't have the link because not on my pc but I can reccomend the stackobot one for that, it's called like first hour in unreal or something? Its an official epic one

The problem is I don't really know what the fundamentals are because every tutorial misses something out.

The stackobot tutorial was the best so far, hands down, but its not the style of project I wanna make ( and it had no UI! )

🛠️🎶 Objects aren’t just objects!
Here’s a clip from my #StackOBot project. In this video, I share my design ideas and how I set up the system inside Blueprints.
I also showcase how I adjusting the pitch of a sound as an elevator moves upward, to create a deeper sense of interactivity and presence.

Oohh! Gotcha :D

So I recommended doing a couple of basic non UI ones first because UE kind of has its own logic, the best ones I found were the stackobot and unreal sensei videos ( links in next skeet because I'm out and about and bsky gets uppity about changing tabs on mobile ) -

I wasnt aware of this one! I did the stackobot tutorial and found it fun because it was *polished*, but it went a bit fast. Unreal Sensei is what really made me go OOOHHH because he walks through literally every minor node change, made me feel like I knew what I was doing...but he barely did a UI

It's that and like, I found it the most useful in the stackobot tut that it was going through literally everything - lighting, animation as well as game logic - everything really fit together in a way that felt polished - I want a tut that's doing an entire game loop so I know what it feels like

I started with the stackobot and unreal sensei free ones on youtube, then did a bunch of shitty YouTube ones before I gave up and paid - this is my paid one that's *really* good, but I think the other two helped set the scene a bit
