I've alerted the footpath officers at E Sussex Council, and got an encouraging response, but maybe in the meantime people locally could organise a group to retrample the path. On the public right of way map (row.eastsussex.gov.uk/standardmap....) the paths are Barcombe 29 and Hamsey 14.
