I love this idea of using state trees as general purpose building blocks, and not just for AI:

Oh shit. I'm to 3k! Big round number.

Please enjoy this celebratory image of the StateTree AI I'm working on.

(btw any Unreal folks, ditch BehaviorTrees immediately, StateTree is SUCH a better system even in beta, already)

StateTree porting from BehaviorTree is complete😃

Today, I worked on a finite state machine to manage our camera logic.

Lots of context-sensitive behavior = lots of potential bugs without structure.

Using PlayerCameraManager + StateTree gave us clean, modular control.

ビルドは通るようになったが、StateTree の挙動に変更があったのか、敵の視界内に入っても微動だにしない。

This one's still the kicker for me

Unreal Nanite? AnimBP? PCG? ControlRig? StateTree? Incredible tech, saved me so much time, I miss it a ton using Godot. Epic sucks! Massively? And I'm still saying this!

If GenAI were truly a time savings? You'd have to beat indies off with a stick. And yet,

For anyone using the StateTreeAI component, make sure its used on the AIController class, not the pawn class of the AI. Moreover, make sure the Start AILogic On Possess param = true if you want the StateTree to start automatically! #UnrealEngine #gamedev #gamedevelopment #ue5

UE_5.5。

The little robot is still alive and rocking!

Sam and colleagues have done very cool new sample with Stack-O-Bot covering a lot good features in a digestible way.

Me personally are looking forward to see how they used StateTree.

But there is so much more to learn from!

I did this with all of the other tutorials, so let's remake this in #UnrealEngine too 😄

There are tons of plugins for this, Unreal has a StateTree, and some use AnimGraphs

Here is my simple implementation of a State Machine!

New attempt at creating a Bayonetta dial combo input handler via StateTree.

There's two states. You're either dialing a new combo or you're passing inputs for the current combo.

Global Tasks can work in parallel to set various flags. These listen to various bound events from the player controller.

UE5.7。

Yeah, same, my jaw hit the floor.

It pulled up StateTree doc perfectly. That's recent! Like this year! Which means it's actively indexing still or something?
