My Stenocactus/Echinofossulocactus made a recovery last year after not growing spines for a while and is flowering now for the first time in years.

I wasn't going to buy any cacti yesterday because my Walmart is so slow to put stock out and the few they had were kind of unremarkable, but then I saw this stenocactus that's starting to crest and I instantly changed my mind. I'm excited to see how it will grow.

This "Brain cactus" had its first two flowers last year. This year, it's the first cactus to flower and has four already. Stenocactus multicostatus.🌵

A few of my favorite cactus photos of 2025. It was fun seeing them mature and show their potential. 🌸🌵

This little gymnocalycium cactus continued its incredible flower production. By far the most blooms of any of our many cacti. This four year old echinopsis torch cactus really put on a show this year after three years in the rock garden. A Stenocactus multicostatus (brain cactus) with its first flowers this year. This "silver torch" cactus (Cleistocactus strausii) with its first pups this year was very exciting for me.

Finally at the Big Bazaar I got this Stenocactus coptonogonus with very fierce spines.

The Japanese colloquial name is 竜剣丸—“Dragon Sword”. I love these D&D-ass names 😂
