Getting there with this #bigfouricecaves painting, done above #granitefallswa on the #stillaguamishriver. Loving the layering on the water to show depth and light. #water #nature #landscapepaintings #mountains #forest #riverside #oilpainting #northcascades #artforsale

Sky, don't let the sun go.

Sun rises from behind Mount Pilchuck, seen from a logging road inside the Hampton Family Forests. South Fork Stillaguamish River Valley, where Mountain Loop Highway makes its way toward Barlow Pass beneath jagged peaks. Hall Peak, Peak, Big Four Mountain, Sperry Peak, Vesper Peak, and Del Campo Peak loom over the horizon, while a thin cloud layer stretches across the vast valley floor in the foreground. Mount Pilchuck, the focal point, towers above the Stillaguamish River. The Eaglet, a modest, forested hill below the mountain's north, is left of the skyline. Sun setting over the southern plains of Puget Sound, with the Olympic Mountains looming on the southwest horizon.
