Contenders for tombstone straplines:

“We reported our concerns to your funder in peace”

“Not a real fish”

etc.

We Don't Write Headlines Or Straplines will be on my gravestone. But I get where this one's coming from: what I actually say www.theguardian.com/books/2026/n... is LK has a professional obligation to neutrality in her job. Everyone has views on how she manages it. This book is a departure. End of

The game menu straplines are brutal but somewhat accurate for some companies.

I find it so weird that all these AI outreach spam mails start the same way - telling me about my own studio or my own games, as if it's news to me. Yes, I wrote my website straplines, I know what I do.

Does this crap ever actually work? Who replies to this junk?

Genuinely think something is broken in adland that we're getting straplines like:
cosmetics company: "believe in possible"
hotel company: "you know what you're getting"
travel comapny: "you don't just travel, you arrive".

The irony here is that one of Irn-Bru’s marketing straplines on the side of their lorries is something like “the contents of this truck are not stored in it overnight”.
An Irn-Bru truck with more than 41,000 bottles inside has been stolen from a Scottish depot, with a police hunt underway 👀
Where do you hide 41,000 bottles of Irn-Bru? Police launch hunt

Dozens of reviewers who agonised over straplines cursing themselves right now
getting my head caved in for calling Star Wars Galactic Racer a "road-like"

You’re probably right there. The decline in advertising revenue wouldn’t have helped - I think it was Morse where those Sponsored by Guinness Stout style straplines began.

Put a couple old favorite straplines back in rotation at eruditorumpress.com, as well as four new ones, so if you want to go repeatedly refresh the site, have fun.

Here’s a game. Without Googling, can anyone identify these classic films from the straplines used in their posters?

1. It’s all about women… and their men!

2. You may not believe in ghosts but you cannot deny terror

3. “They got a murder on their hands. They don’t know what to do with it.”

The problem is that he's almost right. We don't (and cannot) have a democracy without free media. The truth has to be sought; it won't be found in the straplines.

"Turn that crown upside down" might be one the best straplines I've ever seen.
Down with the monarchy! Unless it's me, because I'm a brilliant, totally not corrupt ruler in The Sims 4's surprisingly entertaining Royalty & Legacy expansion.

As I said I don`t debate economics graduates, the straplines used to dismiss any opposition to unfettered free market capitalism are well worn.
This simplistic black/white Marxism v Capitalism orthodoxy is intellectually lazy, wrong and just dogmatic. You have your "box", good luck with it.

Heritage didn't, though S4C put them up as Treftadaeth - it was also interesting how the straplines varied.

Desk chat about our favourite game review straplines reminded me of The Guardian's all timer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Cloudy with a chance of mead halls. Sublime.

Why do publishers sell their authors short with their straplines?

"Author of Atonement".

Jeepers, what about his other, equally worthy books?

USA requires it, and other airlines do it as good practice, that the website is altered to include link to incident support asap. These straplines are prepared in advance and then the details are completed at time of incident.
