#streetgrid
A recent plot of Columbus, OH which basically has to be represented by its streetgrid and river system, by virtue of having very little topography that isn't highway excavations and abandoned quarries

Sure, traffic will be right back where it was and sure East Austin and downtown Austin will never have been further apart, literally; and sure it'll cost $4.5 billion and dump more cars onto a streetgrid that literally cannot fit them, but why not try!

this has to be the inverse of the tiny town/massive bypass archetype that @sandypsj.bsky.social used to love posting on twitter, Interstate slamming straight through the streetgrid of a town w ~2000 people

It's an interesting taxonomy of cities. Some are most intelligible as topography (Pittsburgh), others as coastline (Miami? New Orleans?), others perhaps only streetgrid (Chicago, DC?); others combinations of those (like San Francisco is great for both hydrography and topography)

Playing this last year made me think of a better name for this game: Street Grid (stylized "#StreetGRID")

My suggestions for local officials have been:

1) Allow greater density and a by-right streetgrid in new greenfield subdivisions to facilitate faster and more walkable housing construction
2) Legalize plexes in established neighborhood to help homeowners remodel existing homes into plexes

My speaker just died. No more music until I reach my guy with the solar-charged marine battery. It’s not just power—it’s independence from the plug.

@ivesetsail @drewbkerr yeah that's better, but i'd like to see reconnecting the streetgrid and/or filling in station proximate land

Early conceptual drawings had a stadium in them...

I think we both know that the vote would have easily passed without the bait and switch to the Crossroads location. It wasn't anti-sports, it was anti-demolition and pro-streetgrid.
