Hot patching #RustLang code? In my #BevyEngine?

github.com/bevyengine/b... was just merged!
Thanks to subsecond from #Dioxus, coming to Bevy 0.17, and already on main!

I wrote up an example showing to integrate the awesome Dioxus's subsecond rust library with macroquad.

github.com/chamons/macr...

This gives you hotreload in #rust for #gamedev

Done, and done!
Deferred works, still subsecond 😄

A vigorous negative finding

Subsecond dopamine transients in the striatum of mice are neither required nor sufficient for specifying the vigor of ongoing forelimb movements

Anyone here had a good experience with dioxus’ subsecond? (ie. it worked?)

And about their wasm-split feature? Neither works for me right now.

DuckDB on a Steam Deck? Why not. Anecdotal testing shows it’s about 3x slower than M1, 6x slower than M4, but still subsecond queries on millions of rows. The new shell install script worked like a charm too 🎉

Delighted to see this finally out: rdcu.be/eO9oW
We tested whether brief striatal dopamine release events influence the vigor of skilled movements. Despite popular belief, we did not find any evidence linking rapid dopamine dynamics to motor vigor on a moment-by-moment basis.
Subsecond dopamine fluctuations do not specify the vigor of ongoing actions
Nature Neuroscience - Liu and colleagues show that the vigor (that is, speed and amplitude) of dexterous movements is not controlled by ongoing fluctuations in extracellular dopamine within the...

came here to say this, can instead be enthusiastic +1 reply guy. keeping the startup subsecond is gods work, dont let it go!

5/ 🌀 What’s New?

We reveal rapid, subsecond opioid dynamics that control pain in real time:

During acute pain, PAG suppresses opioid tone, allowing nociceptive circuits to guide adaptive behavior.

In injury, enkephalin ramps up, suppressing a latent sensitization over weeks

2/ 🚨 Key Finding:

🔑 Convergent Mechanisms:

Diverse states (pain, fear, placebo) activate a common PAG circuit where enkephalin release suppresses nociceptive activity with subsecond precision, driving analgesia

Subsecond works by detouring function calls through a jump table. This jump table contains the latest version of the program’s function pointers, and when a function is called, Subsecond will look up the function in the jump table and call that instead.

I've heard dx subsecond finally supports workspaces. Time to give it a try!

Context: checking if I can enable hot-reload for developing my game (rust+bevy)

Genuinely curious since i've been out of this space for a while: it's 2025, how long does it take for your data to get from your db to your data warehouse?

1 hour?
1 minute?
10 seconds?
subsecond?

And what do you consider as sufficient?

spent the whole night chasing a stack overflow crash when using `subsecond` hot-patching for Rust

setting `opt-level = 1` worked in the end, though it led to somewhat longer rebuild times
still much better than having to stop and rebuild every time

as a genuine suggestion, try the subsecond crate! has some caveats (might be fixed now?) but I have very good experience with it when prototyping stuff like egui apps
