“Trump’s voters didn’t vote for this”

Really? The didn’t vote for the guy who killed Qasem Suleimani and is obviously now losing his mental faculties? They didn’t vote for him? Then they are not Trump voters

Remember the Suleimani assassination? That was wild. I wonder what fun surprises are in store for us in the next four years

Things make a little more sense now.

"Usually unmentioned but always in the background was the added motivation that Iran had plotted to kill Mr. Trump as revenge over the assassination in January 2020 of Gen. Qassim Suleimani"

And:
Trump not only ordered the assassination of General Suleimani during a diplomatic mission, but also the assassination of the whole Iranian leadership during the first days of the recent war.

So IF Iran put a mark in Trump's back, it would only be fair!

This observation from January 2025 about Trump's tendencies as commander in chief holds up:

"And, as with the Suleimani strike, Trump may act heedlessly without fully appreciating the consequences of his actions—particularly if encouraged by his advisors."

They remember Trump bombing Syria and droning Suleimani. They truly believe that his belligerence was what kept the rest of the world in line

Under Donald Trump, the US pulled out from the Iran JCPOA nuclear deal on 8th May 2018.

On 3rd January 2020, Trump ordered the assassination of Iran’s top military leader, General Qassem Suleimani.

In Jan 2025, I wrote about Trump 1.0 as commander in chief:

"And, as with the Suleimani strike, Trump may act heedlessly without fully appreciating the consequences of his actions—particularly if encouraged by his advisors."

Not so hard to foresee this disaster.

mentioning the date as January 3 reminds me of the same date in 2020 when Trump took out Suleimani and I was like "oh man this could be the year I get drafted" and my friend said "no I think this COVID thing will be a bigger problem" and I said "nah"
