Lake Mohawk after the smoke cleared. I’m at life’s point where I wonder is this the last - so I’m both savoring and sad. This lake, this view, the sky ever changing, the leaves, the lake, the grasses, the homes too if slower, was my childhood, my upbringing. So there’s a Carolina Wren nest in the light to the right of my old home’s front door.

A bird that was uncommon in NJ when I lived in that house, into the 1980s, when a few cold winters banished them South.
