Creating sustainable finance and business panel - The London School of Economics and Political Science
To reach net zero, the global economy will have to close a substantial investment gap measuring in the trillions of dollars. Such a gap cannot be filled by the public sector alone and the role of the private sector is therefore critical. Work is needed at the "micro" level: understanding investor preferences, the role of asset managers, and incentive provision inside corporations. But it is also needed at the "macro" level, focussing on the conditions needed to blend public and private sector finance together to achieve desirable transition outcomes. Meet our speakers and chair Kyung-Ah Park is Chief Sustainability Officer at Temasek. She is responsible for advancing Temasek's sustainability strategy to climate resilient, net zero portfolio and to enable nature positive and inclusive growth. She also oversees the integration of ESG across Temasek's global portfolio, including new investments and engagements with portfolio companies to deliver long-term sustainable returns., Kyung-Ah has over two decades of experience in the finance industry, the majority of which was dedicated to building and leading the global environmental markets initiatives at Goldman Sachs and advancing innovative finance solutions to address climate change. She was the head of Environmental Markets and Innovation and a member of the...

Stakeholders Strongly Oppose Proposal to Include Oil and Gas in Canada's Sustainable Finance Taxonomy
The majority of stakeholders responding to a consultation into the development of Canada’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy said that they strongly opposed a proposal to include an “abatement measures” category focused on decarbonizing activities related to fossil fuels, according to the consultation report released by investor initiative Business Future Pathways (BFP). The consultation results follow the release in July by BFP, mandated by the government of Canada to work on the development of the upcoming taxonomy, of a draft methodology underlying the taxonomy. Canada announced plans late last year to launch a new sustainable investment taxonomy by the end of 2026. At the time, the government indicated that the new taxonomy will provide a set of criteria for the identification of investments that are eligible for a “green” or “transition” investment label, enabling companies to issue green or transition bonds, and investors to evaluate the credibility of sustainable investment products. The draft methodology presented in July, however, proposed three categories, including “Green,” which would apply to zero to near-zero emission climate solutions, “Transition,” for emissions-intensive activities that can achieve deep emissions reductions and have the potential to achieve the scale of decarbonization necessary to align with the green definition by mid-century,...

Climate Transition Plans and Sustainable Finance: Latest Trends and Essential Insights
NORTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESS Newswire / September 22, 2026 / Accelerating climate impacts and evolving stakeholder expectations are now influencing the business of global finance. In response to the uncertainties of this present era, climate transition planning in particular and sustainable finance more broadly have started taking up more space in consultancies, headlines, and industry reports. The emergence of sustainable finance is a necessary development meant to help integrate a company's financial health with environmental considerations and sustainability performance in light of increasingly complex challenges related to climate uncertainty. Indeed, investors, stakeholders, and reporting agencies are more frequently requesting evidence that companies are prepared to respond appropriately to that uncertainty and associated risks. Private sector climate transition plans help companies develop climate strategies, manage risk, and identify growth opportunities. These plans increasingly align with national policies and inform regulatory decisions, while also considering the financial health of an organization. Global coordination is needed as new regulations emerge, which can encourage companies to engage across their respective sectors in new ways. But what is the purpose of a climate transition plan? How is one developed? And more importantly, how does a transition plan translate into important considerations related to sustainable finance...

Advancing Gender-Responsive Sustainable Finance in West Africa
Across Africa, growing attention to sustainable finance is creating new opportunities to mobilise capital towards development priorities, including gender equality and women's economic empowerment. For UN Women, unlocking this opportunity requires more than developing new financial instruments. It requires strengthening the capacity of financial institutions to understand, design, evaluate and implement financing approaches that integrate gender considerations into investment and capital mobilisation. This was the focus of a recent capacity-building engagement between UN Women and the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) in Lomé, Togo. The programme brought together EBID senior leadership and technical teams from across the institution to deepen understanding of sustainable finance and gender-responsive financing instruments, while exploring how these approaches can support the Bank's broader institutional and development objectives. Moving Gender Finance from Concept to Practice Gender-responsive finance encompasses a range of approaches and instruments that can help direct capital towards investments that contribute to gender equality. These can include gender bonds, social and sustainability bonds, gender-lens investment strategies and other forms of sustainable finance that incorporate gender-related objectives, eligibility criteria and impact considerations. The Lomé engagement therefore focused not on a single financial product, but on building the institutional knowledge required to assess and...
