ghidra is so good at syscalls

ok ok other pitch: I compare the amount of syscalls between rust and a banana. the banana made ZERO SYSCALLS.

maybe this one's better as a video

atproto microkernel where syscalls go over xrpc

Linux syscalls are awesome. They're more stable than libc ABI (Linus will find you if you break them). Programs that use them work on Linux (duh). They works on FreeBSD through its Linux compat mode. They work on Windows via WSL. Linux syscalls are the most crossplatform API.

add custom syscalls... crash your whole system... corrupt your filesystem... the possibilities are endless!

Syscalls are just RPC, and I can't be convinced otherwise

rewriting everything in test-driven brainfuck (w/ c ffi just for syscalls)

Well truss my syscalls and call me a linux!

Ok that didn't work.

I integrated LoudSunRun-style stack spoofing into Bahamut so direct API calls and indirect syscalls, which still execute from inside ntdll present a legitimate caller chain.

"ROP" means I can re-use fragments of existing executable code, but I can't load my own code. I can, for example, make syscalls and IPC calls, but I am limited by the permissions granted to the process I compromised.

The switch runs a microkernel so the kernel attack surface is small.

Recent Phrack has a cool stealth shell technique: lightweight in-memory implant that proxies syscalls, lets you run native commands on a remote system via magic filepaths. Even better? It translates syscalls cross-OS—control a Windows target from Linux🔥 phrack.org/issues/71/14... #hacking #exploits

"The main challenge to solve is that Zig needs to intercept all syscalls (and in fact all inline assembly), just like Fil-C currently does today"

doesn't this sound hard and stupid?? am I crazy

new operating system has no syscalls. advanced ai will automatically detect what input your program needs
October 23, 2025 at 6:07 AM
I have advanced this to GCC 13.5+binutils 2.41+LLVM 23. funny bit, just linking mimalloc into the build I improved performance by 15% because musl "ping pongs" back to the OS by giving it memory back too eagerly. 300k mmap syscalls to compile 1 (one) .c file! musl's allocator is bad at any speed
Last night I had 6-astra-max plan out and begin working on a port of the full source nix/guix bootstrap to raw Buck2 BUILD files and it apparently completed this morning! will be interesting to evaluate how it did here
