While we wait for Ella's surgery from a T1D complication, I feel the need to speak out about why this upcoming election is so important.
As of 2017, over 30,000 kids in Canada have T1D.

one time, years ago, i ordered a $50 sweater for diabetes awareness month, from a small shop owner on etsy who also has t1d. i was excited to get it and also be supporting someone with t1d. but i never received it and i reached out multiple times and never got a reply. im still so mad about it.

As someone in the T1D family this hits hard (as does so much of all of ICE depravity). This cannot recur.
There is a legal provision in immigration law that someone married to a US citizen can stay in the US while there visa is pending. Immigration officials have long recognized it to allow residency during the wait time. The DHS has just stopped following this part of the law.
Hanne Daguman said she "genuinely feared for [her] health" after being denied insulin, causing her to lose vision and collapse.
