I very much disagree with the author of this piece- a big part of the dislike of chains in SF is their tendency to be only about profit and no longer about the art of the food. It is also telling that her ex-husband (disclosed in article) is the Tacolicious guy.

i walked by tacolicious a few weeks before it closed and… wow what a contrast to the early years.
If I had my way, I would (re)open Miyake there, with pyro enhanced sake bombs (its ok with super tall ceilings)

My friend was a chef at Tacolicious back in the day so any time they had a booth at a festival I’d put in a couple hours work and get a pass that let me get in anywhere I wanted. Tore around outsidelands one time, that was fun
