The Tdap vaccine prevents pertussis, aka whooping cough, which killed 16 people last year, mostly newborns. When babies are that small, their airways can easily swell shut.

This is the fall of collecting all the vaccines, got my tdap booster last month, booked my flu and covid vaccines for next month, and just verified if I needed to get a measles booster (good to go, vaccinated after 1989). Wooooo

I got both and TDAP the same day. I got lucky; I only had a headache and general fatigue the next day. Sometimes I wonder if my immune system knows what it's supposed to do with all this stuff.

Did you know there are new Covid vaccines out there every 6 months or so? Received my Flu & Covid boosters last week at Walgreens along with a TDaP booster. I knew about the 10 year Tetanus booster but didn’t realize we were due for Diptheria and Pertussis again as we age.

Thread by Tyler Black MD: BMJ "VAERS Bombshell" doesn't make ANY sense. It says that Americans were denied prompt warnings because VAERS was broken. There is something there, but its not some coverup. This hypothesis completely fails on the timeline and example (myocarditis). The piece says Americans "were denied prompt warnings of potential harms." Myocarditis is the focus of the article. Myocarditis was found by other systems, reviewed at ACIP, and put on both fact sheets by 25 June 2021. Yet the analysis the article claims is a "missed signal" ran May-July 2022. So... the headline harm was caught, warned about, and labelled TEN MONTHS before the "cover-up" exists. There is, of course, a real thing there. FDA's Bayes screen compares a vaccine vs everything else in VAERS. in 2021, it was dominated by pfizer/moderna, so they became their own comparator (masking the side effects) But this was published openly! Szarfman and colleagues laid it out in Drug Safety in June 2022, while she was still at FDA. A 2024 CDC/FDA paper co-authored by Narayan Nair states the same limitation in print. (Nair is the offical painted in the article as a "private admission" in Oct 2023) So it leaves the question: would the fix have warned anyone sooner? For myocarditis, the standard method and their regression fix both showed nothing early, then jumped the week ending 30 May 2021. So the better algorithm lit up in the same 14-day-window CDC's safety group was already deciding clinicians needed to be told. The BMJ article never looks at this, even though this obvious answer sits in its own 5th reference. The PRR claim: the BMJ says CDC's PRR flagged myocarditis, pericarditis, Bell's palsy and tinnitus in 13 straight weekly reports. Yes. From May-July 2022. Myocarditis had already been known and reported for 10 months! That very same system (PRR, the "hidden test") flagged 770 event types, with 500 scoring higher than myocarditis. Because vaccinators were required to report every event regardless of whether or not they thought it was related (no other vaccines carry that duty), PRR lights up EVERYTHING. The BMJ article mentions tinnitus, for example. This was a bright red "uhoh" on PRR. CDC looked for it in the VSD using tree-based medical record scanning... and.... nada. No signal. The overall picture on tinnitus as of 2026 is equivocal, and actually large US records show that mRNA vaccines cause LESS tinnitus than we would see for flu, Tdap, or pneumococcus. Hey so yeah, thats not a cover up. Its literally an inaccurate signal showing nothing. On the July 2021 death "signal" - FDA is quite clear that rollout prioritized the oldest and the sickest, it was expected there would be a death signal. BMJ just brushes this off, but it is a true confounder that, when analysed, disappears. The BMJ article claims VSD did not signal myocarditis, which is true of its whole-population sequential test. But the same analysis found a 10x rate ratio in 12-39 year olds. So no, it didn't miss myocardiits. It caught it. Now, I don't think FDA is blameless here. Officials SHUOULD have used the bright red PRR signals to just dutifully chase them all down, instead of dismissing them. They also shouldn't have pointed to their MGPS model when it was literally containing a blind spot. But, thats a story about institutional defensiveness. 'The BMJ has written it up as a concealed harm, and its just not true. The articles examples came AFTER the harm had been identified, or did not hold up in controlled data (and there were MANY false red flags identified by that screen). So yes, the masking issue was real, but we don't need to add a conspiratorial coverup to it. It did not cause ANY myocarditis harm. The BMJ authors should have noticed this but failed.

Almost all my covid rounds got some kind of "well, I might as well since I'm here" second option and the two that were shockingly bad were tdap and the first round of shingrix. My whole immune system went rogue for that shingrix.
