2/ I did warn the parents/vaguely responsible older teens that LED tealights aren't toys, can't go in water, can't be eaten, batteries need careful disposition, etc.

The way kiddos reverently cupped rainbow tealights-in-bags, I think they'll be okay.

Esp. when I told them about new batteries.

Without gas or electric I can heat a third of a tin of beans in 35 minutes using three crumpet rings & three tealights.

Hope that never comes in useful one day.😬

Tealights are OK, but an LED works better.

Pumpkins singe too! I cheated this time and bought a bunch of 'flickering' tealights! (The kids did the carving!)

A blessed and peaceful Samhain to you all.

It's after sundown. The candles are lit to help the dead on their way.

Rest easy, friends.

Well that was an experience. My first power cut whilst having a shower!😂 Suddenly plunged into darkness and cold water. Talk about taking my breath away. - Had to dry myself in the dark and look for a torch before I could get dressed. Luckily I charged up all my electric tealights yesterday.

Morning ##UKGIFTAM #UKGIFTHOUR - I've been making a new product line this week using my own hand printed fabric, some fabric lanterns ideal for LED tealights or battery string lights. Now available in my Etsy shop

I had to hunt down the bag of battery tealights, but that’s done. The battery fairy lights and battery candles for all seasons are sorted and stowed away. Yay me, I guess. And it’s almost time to feed the cats and take my meds.

This is such bullshit. Like, can't we have 10 hours of climate sanity on this one afternoon & evening?

I'm hanging up my usual fantasy of spooky-pretty lanterns in the front yard, but the LED tealights are going in clear plastic bags first.

It's been raining for almost 3 hours, gentle rain. Didn't stop trick-or-treaters! Many had umbrellas, many didn't care.

The treat table is again a success. The props are all thrifted or warehouse stuff, so if anyone feels they *must* steal a pretty light, no harm.

That plays into my intent.

We easily got double the trick-or-treaters that we usually do this year, including far more middle/high school kids than we’ve had before.

We also got multiple compliments on our summoning circle / demon frog trap.

Happy Halloween, all!

Nope. The sensor bar is passive, it's cable is simply power.

It will be jittery as shit with tealights because flames flicker, but it will (should!😁) work.

Please report back!

but it's been enough for me to stock up on a lot of things, also buying another torch - plus spare batteries, trying to find a decent camping gas stove that can be used indoors 😱😂, don't mind cooking with patio doors open 😂

Buying lots of long burning tealights as discovered you can cook using them

I thought it was the remote that sent the IR and the sensor bar that detected it?
You realise I now can't wait to get back home to try it with tealights
November 2, 2026 at 12:46 AM
1/ From 5:45 to 9:19pm we had 22 groups of trick-or-treaters, in family or large friend groups. At least 76 people. Many kids under 12. It didn't taper off until the rain increased.

Much candy and glowsticks given out. A few brazen thefts of LED tealights in clear plastic bags to keep off rain.

With two tealights on both sides the pot gets so hot, you can only touch it for a second and they constantly give warmth.

Compare & contrast the Wii, the "sensor bar" is nothing of the sort, rather it sends because a modern panel can't.

The bar has an IR LED at each end and the Wiimote reads those to triangulate position. You can replace a Wii sensor bar with two tealights (albeit poorly because they flicker).
