If you've ever wondered how ridiculously profitable tech companies avoid paying taxes . . .

.... liberal tech companies? where?
@timmiller.bsky.social and Tommy Vietor dismantle the All-In crew’s conspiracy theory that Obama wants AI safeguards so liberal tech companies can funnel money back to him.

"These guys are making ungodly amounts of money and are just like, let’s just press the gas."

Tech companies suddenly decide they can, in fact, moderate content on their platforms after all

HELL YES FUCK UP OUR TECH COMPANIES MONEY TALKS
“The French government announced that it will stop using American video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and replace them with Visio, a French platform.”
Zoom Is the First Casualty in France's War on American Big Tech
Homebrewed video conferencing may not be a moonshot, but you gotta start somewhere.

The whole idea that tech companies would regulate themselves is insane.
don't want to pile on here but the problem is it wasn't a crusade. Dems did a couple modest skirmishes against Big Tech power but did not remotely break it, in fact they all kept getting huge government subsidies

Tech companies don't even tell you what they do anymore, they just look at you like this

Engage accordingly

Tech companies: here’s lots of tech!
Media: whoa so much cool tech
Politicians: thanks for the donation let’s get tech in schools!
This article frames tech as a battleground between parents and schools. But I was chatting the other day with a school official who's leading an effort to shift her district away from device-based learning, and she told me--every teacher she's talked to is on board.

Corporatist fascism, plain and simple.

DHS is trying to get tech companies to hand over data on Trump critics.

This is unconstitutional, and Congress must shut it down, before we turn into East Germany.

We need to know how much energy data centers use – and if YOU are subsidizing the costs of Big Tech companies.

Making this data public is the bare minimum.

There’s lots of empty land in and near Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster, and for that matter at the very spacious estates of the tech oligarchs and the nice campuses of the tech companies. Those seem like easy places to put data centers.

I've been warning orgs that work on stigmatized areas of healthcare to move their tech stack to European companies.

This is going to create an exodus of international orgs and governments moving away from American tech companies.
This is so far over the line it’s disorienting.

I accidentally updated the iPhone iOS last night, despite weeks of refusing to do so, and it’s amazing how tech tech companies manage to make their products worse with every improvement
