#tech-responsibility
Wish List:
Elon Musk’s companies are nationalised.

Tech bros start taking responsibility for their products.

Bottom drops clean out of AI Ponzi scheme.

Labor's new digital laws are about giving you more choice over your algorithm and protect kids online.

So that Big Tech takes responsibility for the environments they create.

My take on how Big Tech manages to evade responsibility and accountability through lobbying and silence.
👨‍⚖️ A European parliament can invite Meta, TikTok or Google to explain themselves. It can rarely make them come and answer.
✍ @gpaccardo.bsky.social looks at how Big Tech has made itself virtually untouchable in Europe, and how it helped write the rules that protect it.

"This means turning global ambition into local integrity by scaling up overseas investment in clean tech manufacturing powered by renewable energy, and taking responsibility for a just transition in host countries." Liu Junyan commented.
#China ’s clean-tech exports in 2026 alone are on track to avoid around 450 million tonnes of CO2, a new analysis by Carbon Brief shows. Our Beijing-based Deputy Program Director Liu Junyan commented: "We hope to see Chinese companies shift from transaction to transformation."

8/13 Marc Andreessen, 2023, published a manifesto with an enemies list. On it: sustainability, social responsibility, trust and safety, tech ethics, risk management, experts. He calls Yarvin a good friend. Those are the ideas they want gone. Look at the list and ask who benefits.

Marienborg Manifestet:

"Vi tager ansvaret på os. For nærmere detaljer, følg os på Facebook, X, Instagram og TikTok #FollowLeaderChallenge #Responsibility #Inspirarional"

Men fint, hvis de reelt tør udfordre de store tech-virksomheder. Hvis.

History and the law - something you could easily google - will tell you that not only do monopolies become custodians and have a responsibility due to it, we have mechanisms in place to prevent this in basically any industry other than tech/online.

Why does this feel like political rage bait, especially with elections approaching? LOL. If she was acting as a spy, shouldn't the responsibility fall on her employer and the relevant Singaporean authorities? Why is NVIDIA being made to shoulder the blame? #Tech #AI
most shocking part of this huge story:

“Roughly a year ago, Mr. Trump was briefed about the intelligence findings, which have not been previously reported, and chose not to do anything with the information. Mr. Trump has been wary of disrupting Nvidia’s chip sales” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/29/u...

A Chinese businesswoman who had a close relationship with Jensen Huang was found to be passing intelligence to Beijing. President Trump was briefed and took no action.

Was it can't do anything about it in the 'need new laws' way or the 'tech giants too big/legal responsibility too diffuse' way?

Inside how the AP is gearing up to supply election data to nearly every major network Tuesday, while expanding its reach through tech firms like OpenAI

Exec editor Julie Pace told me the AP views its growing footprint as an “enormous responsibility”

Absolutely amazing that these billionaire puppets, like Bannon, never ever take responsibility for anything they campaigned for!

Still relying on 2016 data for biomass densification tech assessments?

That's a recipe for a false leader in mechanical briquetting.

Maximizing nameplate power doesn't equate to environmental responsibility.

AI is the ultimate tech. It gets half of humans to shut off their brains, creates fake facts to feed to people all while allowing its users to avoid all responsibility for the illegal shit it does.

Neat, huh?

Not unrelated was how I felt seeing Kara Swisher in MUSK. She's an essential storyteller in the film, but she also bears a lot of responsibility for creating the Tech hype culture that empowered him.

Building data centers isn’t the responsibility of communities. Funding them isn’t either.

If Big Tech wants data centers, they foot the bill for them.

"AI slop" on Steam isn't about new tech—it's just pure laziness. Typing a prompt to spit out a game strips away the soul, passion, and human effort that make gaming worth it. Valve leaving the door wide open for lazy cash grabs hurts real devs and players alike #PCGaming #IndieGames #Steam #GameDev

Not good but let's put responsibility on the schools IT using routers & group policies and then it doesn't matter what Google tries to do. Devices are part of network which if properly managed can't block content & web domains. So attempt to regulate big tech but don't depend on it.

"A commitment to evaluate employees by outcomes, not arbitrary AI targets"

Seeing so much of this in job postings and hearing it from friends in tech 🫠

Also hearing about coworkers that turn in code for review, and not taking responsibility for what they turned in because AI wrote it 🫠
GOOD.
After the reporting on Proton CEO Andy Yen pushing AI on workers and broader issues at the company last week, Proton employees are pushing for their colleagues to unionize and make sure Yen is held to account.
