I went to Umenomiya Shrine, which is famous for sake brewing and safe childbirth. There were lots of cats on its grounds, and it also had a lovely garden.

We went to Himeji Gokoku Shrine where martyrs and those who died in the Boshin wars are enshrined. During the summer they hang up a boatload of lanterns. The komainu also all wore shimenawa necklaces!
