Remember my uncle Bill Ochs on Memorial Day. Vietnam, 1967-1971, 196th Light Infantry, Central Highlands.

When I teach Vietnam to students, I use clips from his oral history, and I always cry.

The #TetOffensive, launched #ThisDayInHistory in 1968 by the #Vietnamese, was a tactical failure with a steep cost in lives. But it helped them win the war against the US by showing that resistance would continue, turning a growing share of the public against the #VietnamWar.

North Vietnam launched the #TetOffensive #OnThisDay in 1968; militarily a failure, it was politically a success because it persuaded many mainstream Americans that the #VietnamWar couldn't be won; is the #GazaGenocide #ApartheidIsrael's Tet moment...?
