Like, they literally filmed Texasville there.
Is my home town on average a terrible place? I don't know, but it was an *extremely terrible* place to be a queer teenager, even a closeted one.
Excitingly it was probably undiagnosed ADHD combined with my absolutely desperate desire to leave my hometown, which meant I had a plan that involved getting into a really good school, getting scholarships, and GTFO. So any minor failure felt like "And I'll be stuck here."

In 1966 Larry McMurtry's great The Last Picture Show was published; in 1971 Peter Bogdanovich's great film came out staring, among others, handsome Jeff Bridges. In '87 came McMurtry's okay sequel & in '90 Bogdanovich put out a mediocre Texasville film.
The best part was Jeff in Jockey y-fronts.

I wonder why P J Johnson only appeared in 2 feature films: #PaperMoon and Texasville (1990), both for Peter Bogdanovich. I thought she was great!

I read this and immediately had a memory of Annie Potts in Texasville wearing a t-shirt that says “You can’t be first but you can be next”

¡Qué película más extraña Texasville! Una continuación de The Last Picture Show, con su trío protagonista pero muy centrada en Jeff Bridges. Con partes de drama pero también de comedia alocada con un aire de sátira descarnada que desequilibra un poco el tono general.
