Seriously the best gift you can give someone who cooks in the USA really is the joy of cooking.

It's the dictionary and encyclopedia of cooking.

TIL that the original Joy of Cooking has instructions for cooking bear
I know this is hardly the weirdest thing in the story, but the fact that RFK Jr let a road-killed bear sit in his trunk for hours with a plan to eat it later has me thinking about the directions from the classic Joy of Cooking on preparing bear, which emphasizes how quickly it needs to be processed.

So @msnbc.com fired Joy Reid.

I can't figure out why. Joy is just as good, and even better, than many of the other folks on the station.

I mean, just look at her. Joy is ... oh ... wait a minute ... I see it ... now I know why.

You've lost me MSNBC. I'll continue watching The Cooking Channel.

Cooking allows me to escape from the news, albeit briefly. My thoughts about one of the best cookbooks ever, Joy of Cooking.

This recipe in my mom’s 1953 edition of The Joy of Cooking is the most cursed thing I’ve allowed to remain in my house [so far].

The medievalism of the cover design of the first edition of "Joy of Cooking" (1931) is so charming to me: a colour-blocked Martha of Bethany, patron saint of cooks, vanquishes the dread dragon of dinnertime.

This isn't even a hot take or controversial take itsjust definitive truth

You can have a dozen cookbooks for whatever little niche you need

But the Joy of Cooking is the dictionary, thesaurus and encyclopedia of cooking knowledge

And the only real gift to give a cook or baker who doesn't have it

This is from a 60s edition of the Joy of Cooking, Rombauer’s got your back. Brunswick stew on a different page iirc

"As with Thirsty Suitors, this is an overt and chewy piece of social commentary, exploring the usurpation of communal cooking and eating by mass-produced ready meals."

And we still manage to focus on the joy of living, joy of healing, joy of connecting, and joy of expression through play.

Ep 24 is up, and we’re talking Joy history again. Specifically, we focus on Marion’s ground-breaking 1963 edition... the first truly modern Joy.

This one means a lot to me! 🧵

Maybe small progress but the time spent offline focusing on my son/family/mental has been good for me - I've finally re-found joy in learning new things, found more joy in singing and cooking again
Had many days of tears, but also gained a lot of joy 💜💙💚
