Words,Wisdom & Women - #ThedictionaryofLostWords documents the importance of language especially around women’s health and the important role women played compiling the Oxford English Dictionary. “Mothers have a vocabulary all their own..” Thanks Pip Williams for Esme. #words

An historical novel woven around and through the decades-long compiling of the Oxford English Dictionary. Though Williams writes powerfully on the silencing of women, Esme’s story—a conduit for social commentary—is perhaps too beholden to facts to truly dazzle as fiction. #TheDictionaryofLostWords

Esme grows up as her father works on the Oxford English Dictionary. She loves words & learning but notices words that pertain to women are not being included in the early 1900’s dictionary. She collects those words so they are not lost. #thedictionaryoflostwords #booksky

I will admit, this one crept up on me. After reading that blurb, I didn’t expect it to go where it took me or how much it pulled me in.
