And because I am nowhere NEAR the parts of thenovel where Jas and Luka admit to their feelings for each other, I decided this week we have scenes where they are yearning and then together

The letters changed over time. Detailed notes on the veil, progress about the portal, and researches on the floating eyes. With the ability to exchange fleeting words on slips of paper, it made the separation from him almost tolerable. Like they were separated by distance, rather than realities. She'd begun learning his language, spurred on by his refusal to translate those words he'd said to her while he lay unconscious. Little by little, Luka parsed out vocabulary she was looking for. Their communications became more casual over time Casual turned intimate. Teasing. She found herself on edge all the time. MADDENING Eventually, she felt confident enough to spell out her intentions, should they succeed in finding a way to pierce the veil between them. The thought of her voice speaking the words she had written in response to his playful reply... Jas swallowed If he could just reach across the veil once more, would she...? He sounded curious, but not alarmed. Luka sauntered to his side, then peered up at him. “This morning, you told me you would take me anywhere.” “Indeed.” “Well… we saw the artisan market. The university. Three libraries, and even the public gardens. But… I choose here.” Luka wandered to the marble wall, breathing in the salty air from the sea in the distance. Large, bell shaped flowers crept along vines all over. They smelled sweet. “You choose here? For…?” he asked, raising an inquisitive brow. Luka looked over her shoulder. “You promised to take me anywhere, Jas. And I choose here. So take me.” Understanding burned through him in a visible wave. Before Luka could get another word out, he’d grabbed her waist in one large hand, hiking her skirts our of his way with the other. He shoved her lace underthings down around her hips, pressing against her as he undid his trousers. “You’re sure?” he grunted, pressing one finger, then two into her pussy, She was already slick and practically dripping. Probably Slate because his arc is the next biggest, though Haunta, Nathan, and Bernice all also vie for the spot. Slate is the most recent "found" part of the found family trope though it takes a bit for that to sink in.
