I strongly believe flawed art with imperfect color theory, perspective, anatomy, etc. will be more highly regarded in the future than "perfect" art, and that will thanks to genAI.
I'm kinda hoping the ubiquity of soulless ai imagery will lead to an explosion of expressionist and abstract art

'I really need to learn about art, painting, colour theory an anatomy at some point' - me an artist for 20 years

learn how to talk about art sincerely. read art theory, study the fundamentals, engage with art critically. eradicate the shame around taking art seriously and then do it. engage in conversations with your peers, ask "can you tell me more about this," and know how to answer when its your turn.

A conspiracy theory I have about a conspiracy theory is that the CIA didn't secretly spend all that money funding modern art around the world during the cold war for ideological reasons, some guy at the CIA was just a highbrow snob who liked it and invented a rationale to funnel money towards it

I love Edward Gorey’s theory of art:
“Art…is presumably about some certain thing, but is really always about something else, and it’s no good having one without the other, because if you just have the something it is boring and if you just have the something else it’s irritating.”

I do have a theory that my art is just accessible enough (soft, nice to look at, easy to find) but also just challenging enough to anger people, such as depicting fat people as attractive, or challenging norms about sexuality and consent.

This is the creative integrity I like to see. Strong premise, punched up color theory, uncompromising art direction, inspired character designs. Looking forward to this enormously.
The Gaslight District is a gothic crime drama about a family of undead gangsters trying to find their place after the world has ended.
