Mmm, #6music playing The Donnas? I’m more and more convinced that they base their playlist off our #theplaylist conversations here 😂

@DJDarren I’ve been musing on a theme for #theplaylist: unusual or improvised instruments. It could be anything from washboards to tea chests, Brian May’s homemade guitar to Imogen Heap’s whacky electronics.

However you could colour me gobsmacked when @DJDarren played the original on #theplaylist the other week. I had no idea that the Buggles version was a cover (well, sorta) ...

@DJDarren

Theme suggestion! Punctuation. You know, songs (or bands) with some form of punctuation. Inspired by the band that used to be called “Panic! At the Disco” and the correct use of commas, apostrophes and semicolons everywhere.

@DJDarren Hello Mr #theplaylist. First thank you for Monday's episode which was perfectly timed: the last echoes of God Only Knows fading out as I parked the car at work this morning.

Secondly, I have a couple of theme ideas that popped into my head. Sorry if they've been done before.

Looking for songs around the 3min mark (for next week's #theplaylist) I discovered that Snuff had done a cover of Tim Buckley's Song to the Siren (arguably "made famous" by This Mortal Coil).

I know Snuff have done some weird covers in their time, and they'd often been surprisingly good (Don't […]

I don't know how anybody else went about refining their selections for next week's #theplaylist, but I looked again at my own method, slightly.

From all my individual 'liked' songs on a music streamer, I built longlists for each song duration close to 3:00 […]

A bar graph showing how many songs are in playlists I've made based purely on song length. There's a clear spike in songs at exactly 3:00 in length. 02:55 15 02:56 13 02:57 19 02:58 18 02:59 19 03:00 34 03:01 26 03:02 18 03:03 21 03:04 22 03:05 24

Just gonna share some of my favourite chairs, now. Because topical! Tune in to #theplaylist for the correct sound track, shortly.
A frankly weird wooden chair which has been expertly carved to look like, well, a bison. It doesn’t look at all comfortable.

Awww....I blooming love Might Mighty Bosstones' Impression That I Get, not least for many joyous occasions playing Donkey Konga on the Gamecube.

I'm mentally doing the beats and handclaps as I listen to this 🥰
