I like this comparison. Been thinking about electricity a lot lately due to indirectly used electricity for data centers and the fact that most electricity is thermoelectricity. Yet another reeason to go for wind and solar.

Sure it can. Google "gas-fired thermoelectric plant". Look, you're right that in the medium term we need to drop gas as a power source, both for climatic and geopolitical reasons. But on the short term it's way better than diesel or coal-fired thermoelectricity
