Using clumped isotopes thermometry, we reconstruct deep-sea temperatures which are independent of seawater chemistry and enable us to deconvolve the underlying oxygen isotope record to reveal a complex (and different!) temperature evolution in the Pacific and North Atlantic.

Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit died #OTD in 1736. He was a pioneer of thermometry, inventing the mercury-in-glass thermometer and devising the first standardized temperature scale, mostly still in use in the USA.

Ocular thermography performed comparably to rectal thermometry for detecting abnormal body temperature in dogs. Both tests are useful when abnormal, but a normal reading shouldn't override clinical suspicion otherwise.
