#ThomasTelford was one of the great #engineers and #bridgebuilders. He specialised in single arches where piers were unsuited. He was also a great poet and he linked the #Baltic with the #NorthSea via the #GothaCanal crossing #Sweden from #Stockholm to #Gothenberg #history #engineering
