In the cathedral in Paderborn, Germany, there is a window known as the Dreihasenfenster (three hares window). It is cunningly designed so that the hares each have two ears, but there are only three ears in total. As soon as I saw the window I knew that one day I’d turn that motif into a tam. Friends… that day has come. Welcome to the Three Hares Tam pattern! Photo shows the crown of the tam (beret) with the three hares pattern. Three hares on a roof boss at St Andrews Church, South Tawton, Devon . There are apparently 171 carved roof bosses in the church - I didn’t count them.

Three nyctosaures (nyctosauri?) as the three hares! This was painful to make, I won’t be doing this again!

A bit about my most popular print 'Three Hares', originally created for #ThoughtPressProject

The #ThreeHares motif has existed since C7th - found in China, The Middle East, Europe & in the churches of Devon (where it is known locally as #TinnersRabbits).

A montage of images showing the creation of my Three Hares lino print. Two images of stone carvings of three hares on churches, used as inspiration. An image of my initial drawing on the lino, and an image taken part way through carving. And two images of the final print, one in black and one in burgundy

This Three Hares was fun to draw but getting the ears right was tough might redraw this again in a more traditional style. #Threehares #nullhideart #furry #aliceinwounderland #art #digitalart
