I’m never too smart to be fooled by a robot! The big thing is that the AI emails are constructed the way teenagers lie—just adding details that don’t need to be there, as if sheer volume improves an argument—and it makes me *feel* the thrum of my mortality, my finite time on this earth.

The bog is calling, the beast turns its head. Only one song does it hear, one thrum in its thin, spindly bones. All it feels now is pain, and the only end to its torment behind. Can it resist the urge to sleep, dream, wash away, and sink DEEP?
