Clearly not the main point here, but there's something so thunderingly literal about OpenAI wanting to replicate Scarlett Johansson's voice in the first place. Even aside from the fact that Her was a sad film about sad people, they just have no original ideas of their own.

There's an old saying: "You give people the choice between a Republican and a Republican, and the Republican wins every time." You rarely see it proven so thunderingly right as it was last night.

I don't know of anyone who claimed (sincerely?) that "BVS" was a bad movie because it brought geopolitics into it's genre storytelling. MY criticism is consistently that it's approach to that storytelling is at once thuddingly stupid and thunderingly pretentious about it.
