Johnny update! The vet finally called and confirmed it was a cancerous thymoma BUT it was one of the slow growing kind and they believe they got it all. No need for chemo or radiation, he’ll just need imaging 4x a year. His prognosis is good. ♥️

Trials in progress at Clinical Lung Cancer describes ongoing phase II study of sacituzumab govitecan (TROP2 ADC) in #thymic carcinoma or thymoma. Led by Drs. @chulkimmd.bsky.social @jennifermarksmd.bsky.social. Open to enrollment now! #OncSky

Phase II Parallel Arm Study of Sacituzumab Govitecan-Hziy in Patients with Advanced Thymoma or Thymic Carcinoma
Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs), including thymoma and thymic carcinoma, are rare thoracic tumors of the anterior mediastinum. For those with advanced disease, platinum-based chemotherapy is used as first-line treatment. However, there is no standard regimen established for TET at progression after initial therapy, and treatment options for advanced/recurrent TETs are limited. Trop-2, a transmembrane glycoprotein, is overexpressed in solid tumors including thymomas and thymic carcinomas. Sacituzumab govitecan-hziy, a Trop-2-directed antibody-drug conjugate, has shown efficacy and safety in several tumors including breast cancer.

Our sweet Teddy got diagnosed with thymoma, cancer of the thymus gland, in July of 2023. It’s so rare only one percent of dogs get it. It was inoperable so we chose radiation. The tumor shrank but there were no guarantees. Today we were told he is still cancer free. Merry Christmas to us ❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️

JOHNNY IS OUT OF SURGERY. Everything went "great" they said. His thymoma was removed easily and all signs look good for it being benign. They could not even find the lung lesion seen on the CT scan so we're leaving it for now. The oncologist thought it was likely unrelated and we'll monitor it.

Meet Youssef Heddaya. Proton therapy was a critical part of his treatment for a recurring tumor. When his radiation oncologist found a tumor near his spine, he opted for proton therapy to treat this critical spot. While in Seattle he adopted Dahab for company! Read his story: bit.ly/3UPWTgi #Thymoma
When thymoma spread near his spine, a young engineer from Egypt opted for proton therapy at Fred Hutch
At age 25, Youssef Heddaya was diagnosed with thymoma, a slow-growing tumor that develops in the thymus, an integral part of the immune system.

Well, my pretty girl has her diagnosis. She has a large thymoma (benign tumor) taking up a big portion of her chest cavity. She's going to take Prednisone but would appreciate everyone keep her in their thoughts because it isn't normally used with rabbits since it can cause e cuni flare ups.

A study published in Discover Oncology aims to screen and identify metabolic biomarkers and targets for methylprednisolone treatment of thymoma with myasthenia gravis (MG) through metabolomics and network pharmacology analysis.

Identification of metabolic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in the thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis treated with methylprednisolone - Discover Oncology
Objective This study aims to screen and identify metabolic biomarkers and targets for methylprednisolone treatment of thymoma with myasthenia gravis (MG) through metabolomics and network pharmacology analysis, thereby improving guidance for clinical medication and treatment. Methods Serum from 15 patients with thymoma accompanied by severe MG was collected. Changes in serum metabolite levels before and after methylprednisolone treatment were determined using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC—MS). The raw mass spectrometry fragment information obtained was integrated and interpreted using the metabolomics data analysis software Progenesis QI v2.3. Differential metabolites were screened and identified using univariate and multivariate statistical analysis methods. Subsequently, potential targets of methylprednisolone treatment were identified through network pharmacology, and the mechanism of action of methylprednisolone in treating thymoma with MG was explored in conjunction with metabolomics. Finally, key targets and the upstream synthetic enzymes of critical metabolites identified were validated using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Results A total of 148 differential metabolites were identified in the metabolomics study, among which key metabolites ceramide (Cer) and sphingomyelin (SM) play a significant role in cell immune regulation, inflammatory response, and tumor control. Network pharmacology analysis revealed that tumor necrosis factor (TNF) could serve as a potential target for methylprednisolone treatment of thymoma with MG. ELISA validation results showed that the key target TNF and the upstream synthetic enzymes of the key metabolites SM and Cer were all downregulated after methylprednisolone treatment, with the differences being statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Our Study reveals that TNF could serve as a potential target for methylprednisolone treatment of Thymoma-associated MG, and Cer and SM could act as potential metabolic biomarkers to assess its treatment efficacy.

I learned a couple weeks ago that the presumed cardiac symptoms I have been experiencing are actually due to a (now)11cmx4x3 anterior mediastinal mass, now being called a Thymoma in my chest “conforming to the contours of my heart.”
I’ll be having surgery in Victoria to remove it, and so I wait ….
