Chat, what if I opened a substar. No paywall, no timegates. A glorified tip jar with maybe character polls now and then?
Would there be any interest? #atherolspeaks

i think my hottest xiv 1.0 take is that it's funny to me how gamers reacted so insanely negatively to fatigue as a system and then spent years gassing up yoshida's policy of excessive timegates + "just unsub lol"

sweeneys a fuckstick manchild, storefront lacks basic core functions, indie games are doomed to be forced to wait out the absurd timegates with zero market traction, crypto, nfts and now AI garbage riddles the place.
Sweeney doesnt give a fuck about gamers, he just wants to not pay market taxes.

At long last, tomorrow after reset/maintenance I can finish the Harandar meta. I pray that Blizzard never, ever timegates an achievement like this again.

Uh oh, I had to put Island Sanctuary away for a day but now I'm sitting here wishing I was still doing Island Sanctuary.
I'm glad I enjoy the content but day 3 is pretty early to be struggling with the timegates lol

Blizzard said no more timegates—but will Horrific Visions lock cosmetics behind a 3-week talent tree grind? All eyes on live servers today. 👀

pokemon go, the only Free game, has timegates and restrictions on what you can and can't export so you have to spend more time (read: money) engaging with it
the very idea of Catching 'Em All is now hilariously holding the series hostage

Niantic could have given us any number of challenges
-Catch 25 unique Unovan Pokemon
-Battle 5 raids with a team of unique Unovan Pokemon
heck, throw in a PvP task. but no, three timegates. there’s no engagement in waiting, no difficulty. it’s just fucking boring

Forget timegates and take that long rest. You are okay. What timegates might exist (which I am not sure there's been any confirmation of but don't stake your playthrough on that) will not be heavily impacted by a couple of long rests.

Doesn’t help that Destiny’s timegates also just consistently opens to unsatisfying results.
It’s like a weekly TV show where each episode just isn’t worth the weekly wait.

Unfortunately, I remember why I dislike starting a new island: there's so many timegates. Did you know that even if you manage to rush the tent payoff so you can get the house as soon as you can, you can't leave the island on that first day at all?

when I was a kid timegates irritated me, I wanted a cool thing Yesterday, but now timegates are kind of a chill way to pace myself while playing MMOs

If its for the sake of "I legitimately don't want to do this" instead of "I'm just too excited for the next part, and/or im impatient with timegates" then you should probably consider at least taking a hiatus

I know people dislike timegates, same, but I did want to say: this is at least better (imo) than the usual Exotic quest releases from recent seasons, i.e. “wait 2/3rds of the way through a season for the quest to release”
At least we already have a new thing to try out, even if it’s not finished
