Deze langpootmug (Tipulidae) toont mooi een tot een haltertje geëvolueerde achtervleugel en ook nog het verlengde laatste palplid waarmee je deze familie snel van (soms stiekem best grote) steltmuggen (Limoniidae) kunt onderscheiden.

Some bugs from today's walk!
A beautiful Argiope aurantia with a prey (invasive Popillia japonica) in her web. Erythemis simplicicollis on milkweed leaf. Phymata americana on Daucus carota flowers. Two mating Phymata americana on Solidago gigantea. There is a deceased Tipulidae next to them.

Todays best animal goes to this baby cranefly - yep this is a Tipulidae larvae & it was found in the streams high up in the Honduran cloud forests

Mich (Saarländer) shamen, weil ich Stubenfliegen als „Migge“¹ bezeichne, aber dann (typisch schwäbisch) behaupten, man sei von einer „Schnoog“² gestochen worden. 🙄
