An intensifying storm system will move into the Plains today, bringing strong winds, locally heavy rain, and scattered severe thunderstorms with a risk of damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes.

An outbreak of 33 tornadoes occurred across parts of the Southern and Midwestern United States. Nearly all of the tornadoes were weak, save for a short-lived EF2 near Baker, Missouri. A squall line caused wind damage in several states as well.
