#tqdm
HOW had I not used tqdm before! It is such a neat little package that gives you progress bars that are *very* satisfying to watch. #astrocode

if you're doing anything in python that takes more than 5 seconds, you gotta slap tqdm in there for an easy progress bar

from tqdm import tqdm

for thing in tqdm(stuff):
do_stuff_to(thing)

I am about to go from someone who wraps 0% of her Python loops with a tqdm progress bar to someone who wraps 99%+ of her loops with a tqdm progress bar

A small Python trick that improves developer productivity:

Use tqdm to track loop progress.

You get:
• Progress bars
• ETA estimation
• Iteration speed

All with a single line of code.

time.sleep(60 * 60 * 24)
print(f"Pagina {i} de 365")

Don't like that

enumerate(tqdm(

and

tqdm(enumerate(

are not equivalent

TIL where the name of tqdm comes from 🥹

> tqdm derives from the Arabic word taqaddum (تقدّم) which can mean "progress," and is an abbreviation for "I love you so much" in Spanish (te quiero demasiado).

"TL;DM (too long; didn't monitor) is a fast, extensible progress bar for Python, forked from tqdm. This fork was created to provide continued maintenance and development as the original tqdm project has become unmaintained."

Libraries and tools that every deep learning project should use: loguru, tqdm, torchmetrics, einops, python 3.11, black. Optional: prettytable. Good for debugging: lovely_tensors. Any other ones I've missed?

Below a few words on each of them:

This episode of Camp Runamuck was one of my favorites. Watch until the end. That's when it gets really funny. #CampRunamuck #comedy

enumerate doesn't inherit the __len__, so in the second case tqdm cannot provide a progress %.

💻 tqdm: 31.1 k ⭐

I used to stare at a silent terminal wondering if my script had hung or was still processing. One import fixed that permanently.
💻 tqdm: 31.1 k ⭐
Wrap any iterable with `tqdm()` and you get a live progress bar with percentage, speed, and ETA — 60 nanoseconds overhead per iteration. Works in terminals, Jupyter notebooks, pandas operations, and even as a CLI pipe. Zero configuration needed. If you've ever killed a long-running script because you couldn't tell if it was stuck, tqdm is the cheapest insurance you'll ever add.

i love that we can add a pretty progress bar to a notebook by just wrapping an iterator with tqdm!
