Great article on how shifting animal tracking toward an "Internet of Things" paradigm can bear fruit... and the obstacles in the way. Us underwater types have an even bigger hurdle to adoption: getting any signal out of the water and into the cloud!

I triangulate fish for my day job (niche); when we set out receivers to listen/position, a "sawtooth" pattern works the best. It seems the Ravens are set out to position targets. If you want to find more devices look in areas that are holes in the sawtooth pattern. I've circled a couple on your map.

Curious if I can throw this at fish positions and vessel AIS data. Right now Atl. sturgeon vessel interaction is based on supposition from carcasses and labor-intensive side-scan sonar data. Could be useful to have something slightly less labor-intensive #acoustictelemetry #trackingnotslacking 🧪🐟🦑
